I definitely remember meeting you both.
Try a corded stay. Just take the 1890′s regular corset pattern and substitute cotton cording tightly sandwiched in between the two layers of fabric. Sew the channels first, than put the cords through with a blunt yarn needle. Make as many channels as you can running up and down as the support of cording is it’s best when there are many cords. Also, use firm twill for BOTH layers of the corset. You may need to add shoulder straps, but it firms up the figure without constricting it. My mother won’t wear any other type unless it’s a special occasion. Warning: your fingers will hurt! But it’s worth it!
