Hi!
I like the dress with the removable pelerine… did you use a pattern or copy from an original? Would a dress like this be good for transitioning from day activities to a barn dance at night?
Thanks,
Hilda
Hilda,
During the 40′s dresses with low necklines and removable pelerines for daywear are very popular. There are many great examples of this style featured in the auction catalog for the Tasha Tudor collection. You can make the pattern for the pelerine very easily off of your toile. But do be aware that it is an 1840′s fashion. Similar things existed in the 50′s as well, but they had a different form. They would be handy as transitional garments from day to night, but in my experience, daywear is just fine at Barn Dances.
It’s been so long since I made that dress. You would have to contact Abraham’s lady to find out details regarding measurements and it’s status as sold/unsold. She is the one responsible for pricing as well. It does have small piping in the armseyes.
